Born and raised in San Diego, at the tender age of 18, having never been east of Phoenix, I made my way to Pittsburgh to attend Carnegie Mellon University’s Drama Department. After graduation, I moved to New York (What was I thinking? In February, when temperatures fell to -2 degrees in New York, it was 80 in San Diego), fell in love (I had a fairy godmother, but that’s another story), moved to Long Island (land of Billy Joel and The Great Gatsby), raised a family (which have included but are not limited to, three cats, two dogs, two hamsters, eels (One crawled out and died behind the aquarium. We wondered about the smell, but that’s another story), an octopus, many fish, several reptiles, including a six foot long iguana named Bubba, and three lovely children who really should listen to me when I tell them that we are adopting nothing else that eats or poops), earned a Master’s degree in TESOL (teaching English as a second language) from Hofstra University and studied audiobook narration with Johnny Heller (On top of being an Audie award winning narrator, Johnny is kind, generous, a great coach and absolutely hilarious). I have spent the last few years recording and editing audiobooks for the wonderful folks at Learning Ally (formerly Reading for the Blind and Dyslexic) in their New York Studio. My most recent project was On Photography, by Susan Sontag.
I have experience narrating a wide variety of genres, including Romance, Science Fiction and Fantasy, Non-Fiction, and Children’s Literature and Poetry. In addition to Susan Sontag, the authors whose works I have narrated include Cassandra Clare, Henry Winkler and Judith Viorst. Books include, Amelia Bedelia, Pretty Little Liars, Dork Diaries and Newberry Award winner, The Westing Game.
I recently created a studio in my home. My equipment includes acoustic panels by ACX acoustics, an Audio Technica AT4040 microphone, a Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 audio interface, a 2014 Mac mini computer, Sony MDR 7506 headphones, KRK Rokit 5 studio moniters and Presonus Studio One and Twisted Wave software.
